We are very sad to announce that Sifu Ken Nichols’ father Robert Nichols passed away on October 31. We send our deepest condolences to Sifu Nichols and we ask everyone to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers throughout this time of grief.
Robert Nichols, 88, of Liverpool, died on Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 at his home. Bob grew up in Pitcher Hill and was a three sport athlete at North Syracuse High School. A gifted athlete, he was a member of the 1945 winning football and baseball teams as well as first team halfback for the first ever All County football team. He joined the Air Force in 1948 and served as an instructor for B29’s at Keesler AFB during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Central New York and had a long career as a flight instructor and a commercial pilot and airport manager. He flew everything from Piper Cubs to DC3’s to Lear Jets and met celebrities and traveled the USA. He was also a many year member of the Quiet Birdmen club or QB’s.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of 67 years, Margaret Jean Nichols, daughter Barbara (James) Randall, son Kenneth (Kris) Nichols, granddaughters Brianna (Jarret) Shamlian, Allison (James) Buckingham, Holly Randall, grandson Gil Randall, great-grandaughter Aurora Buckingham, half-sister Patricia Moran, and half-brother James Kellet.
